Cecil Street Project
About The Cecil Street Project
The Cecil Street Project was originally conceived in May 2009 by Jennifer Brooks, a recent graduate from the University of Cumbria and a professional artist. Jennifer found the building by chance online, and decided to go and look round it just to be nosey!
However, once she saw the amazing street contained within the old chapel, she just couldn’t let it go! And so The Cecil Street Project was conceived and began.
Now we are a registered Not for Profit CIC (Community Interest Company) and we are growing every day. As well as letting out units to creative and cultural businesses, we sell artwork and gifts in the CSP Gallery and present a programme of workshops and events throughout the year. Our aim is to become a cultural hub for the city, to become self-sustaining and not reliant on outside funding within the shortest time possible; and to create a groundbreaking, interactive and structured community outreach programme.
